Thank you for downloading my replacement Earth Textures!

These textures will improve the appearance of the Earth when zoomed out in Top Down View. They are the same size as default, so framerates will not be affected at all. The daytime image was created from NASA true-color satellite imagery, making the Earth appear very realistic.

To see these textures in Flight Simulator, Press "Ctrl+S", or your Top Down View toggle keystroke, and zoom out by pressing the "-" key until the whole Earth appears.

I have included a replacement texture set for the day (this is recommended), and also a texture set showing the Earth at night just for a change.

There is no way to combine the day texture set with a night light map. If the day texture set is loaded, it will show all the time, and if the night texture set is loaded, it will show all the time as well (regardeless of whether it is day or night in the simulator). If someone can find a way around this, let me know!

TO INSTALL:

1. Copy the two texture files from either the New Earth folder or the Night Earth folder.

2. Paste them into your main Flight Simulator 9/Texture folder, and overwrite the old files.

3. If you want to switch back to the old textures, I have included a backup in the "Default FS9 Earth" folder, just follow the same process.

Credits:

The daytime replacement texture was created from a free image provided by www.space-graphics.com. The night texture was created from a free NASA Blue Marble Project image.

Distribution:
These files are licensed as Freeware, and may not be sold at any price. You may distribute them to wherever you want, but please keep the original zipped file intact, and give me credit as the author. Please also email me and tell me where you have uploaded it to, because I like to keep track of where my products go and how many people download them. Thank you, and enjoy!
